In prison, the Vulture constructs a replica of his flying device, under the guards' noses. When the crude device is complete he escapes and resumes his life of crime. Peter hears of this and sets after him as Spider-Man. Expecting his anti- magnetic inverter to shut off the Vulture's harness again, he attempts to take a dramatic picture of the Vulture while defeating him, only to find that the Vulture's harness is now immune to the device. In the ensuing fight, Spider-Man sprains his right arm, forcing him to flee. Lying low with his arm in a sling, Peter encounters the Vulture at the Bugle trying to steal the payroll. Becoming Spider-Man, he chases the Vulture out of the Bugle into a mid-air battle during which he pins the Vulture's wings, ruining his flight power. Attaching a web parachute on the Vulture, he leaves him for the police and returns to the Bugle, expecting gratitude. When Jameson blames him for the building's damage, Spider-Man shoots webbing over his mouth. Switching back to Peter Parker, he finds Betty Brant hiding from the ruckus and shares a romantic moment with her as they sit amongst the debris.
