  • Before Spider-Man breaks up Doc Ock and Aunt May’s wedding, Hammerhead and his gang attack. Ock fends them off before escorting May away. Spidey follows, knowing from the found envelope originating from lawyer Arthur Rimbaud’s offi ce that both villains are after May’s inheritance. Ock escapes with May in a helicopter and Hammerhead follows in his own. Spidey hitches a ride underneath. In the city, Jonah’s grandstanding dominates Betty and Ned’s Christmas party. They and Mary Jane retreat into the kitchen. Ned wonders what happened to Peter, but Mary Jane seems uncaring. Meanwhile, Ock’s helicopter lands at May’s inheritance: a Canadian island housing the world’s most modern atomic processing plant. Hammerhead’s chopper rams Ock’s and the gangs shoot it out as Spidey eventually fi nds a user-friendly supply plane and fl ies off with May, leaving Ock and Hammerhead to face each other near an active atomic breeder. Ock warns Hammerhead that the slightest vibration could set off a chain reaction, but Hammerhead charges, seemingly killing them all in the ensuing nuclear explosion. As Spidey wings an unconscious May home, Betty asks MJ about her feelings for Peter. MJ replies that she likes him too much to want to love him.

Gwen Stacy’s death footnoted as ASM #221, instead of #121
