After spending a Sunday afternoon together, Peter Parker and Mary Jane head for Peter’s apartment. Peter’s spider-sense saves them both from a bomb that goes off when MJ unlocks the door. MJ is knocked out and Peter’s apartment is destroyed. Approaching police sirens prompt Pete to retrieve his extra Spider-gear and chuck it onto a nearby rooftop. Later at MJ’s hospital bedside, Peter senses that the Green Goblin was responsible for the attack. Spidey investigates Norman Osborn’s last lair, discovering it doctored to appear abandoned. He waits until the Green Goblin arrives. Realizing this Goblin is Harry, Spidey is surprised to discover he’s better trained than expected. They battle until the Goblin knocks Spidey out with a drug mixed with his glider’s exhaust. Harry prepares to execute Peter with his finger sparkles. However, finding he has exhausted his energy source, he flees. Sometime later at the Daily Bugle, his leave of absence request rejected, Peter angrily quits.
