The police chase Spidey as he searches for the Jackal in his Spider-Mobile. An apparent alleyway suddenly becomes a pier and Spidey sinks his car in the Hudson River. The next day, he dozes in Professor Warren’s class, further jeopardizing his academic career. MJ, recovered from the explosion at Peter and Harry’s apartment, joins him after class, but he wonders if she can replace Gwen in his heart. Later, Jameson gets a mysterious phone call at his club that pleases him greatly. Meanwhile, a hungry Spidey “borrows” a diner’s Big Mac when a green mist surrounds him. Mysterio attacks soon after. Spidey gives chase and is confronted by images of many enemies. Fighting back, he beats his fists bloody against a wall, then lunges at Mysterio, knocking himself out on a fire escape. Later, at the Daily Bugle, Peter tells Betty and Ned he got caught in a fi ght between Spidey and Mysterio. When Ned tells him Mysterio died in jail a year ago, Peter believes he’s finally lost his mind.
