Spider-Man examines the Spider-Mobile wreckage in the Hudson River, and comes up to find Mysterio waiting for him. Spidey webs him up but Mysterio fades away: an illusion…or a ghost. At his new apartment, Peter calls Aunt May just as Mary Jane arrives. Peter sees Kingpin about to hurt MJ, and throws the phone at him but discovers it’s another illusion. Peter and MJ head to the Bugle where Jonah is happy his plan to destroy Spidey is working. Betty again talks to MJ about her feelings for Peter when Ned interrupts to announce he and Betty have fi nally set the date. Leaving with MJ, Peter thinks he sees Gwen amongst the crowd outside before dismissing it as another illusion. Later, after finding Mysterio’s image inducer on his costume, Spidey uses a special tracker to follow its signal, crashing into Mysterio’s lair, taking him down, and discovering Danny Berkhart in the original Mysterio’s place complete with gimmicks to appear ghost-like. Arrested, Berkhart calls Jonah for help threatening to expose their alliance, inspiring Jonah to make a hasty retreat to Paris.
