As they all fall, the Green Goblin uses a sonic-toad to knock Spidey out. He recalls his glider and grabs Spidey, letting Silvermane fall to the seats below, badly injured. Meanwhile, Harry dons a spare Goblin costume to stop his captor. The Goblin brings Spidey to the same plant where the web-slinger disposed of his clone. However, Spidey revives, snatches Goblin’s bag of tricks and unmasks him to discover…Bart Hamilton. Harry arrives and engages Hamilton, Goblin to Goblin, with Harry winning and denouncing the Goblin legacy. Hamilton activates a pen bomb, but accidentally kills himself instead. Later, Peter takes Harry home where he discovers Liz waiting for him. Peter leaves, contemplating the possibility of his own happy ending.
Bart Hamilton hypnotizes Harry during their sessions and learns about the Green Goblin (after ASM #137, ’74). Looking to write the definitive thesis on the criminal mind, Hamilton becomes enamored of the Goblin’s power and seeks to remove his only obstacle to it: Spidey. He hypnotizes Harry to orchestrate Spidey’s demise and has him take pictures of Spidey disposing of his clone (ASM #151, ’75) to send to Jameson.
