Captain America shows his teammates the newly modified messaging features of their Visi-Projector, but a bored Hawkeye’s inattentiveness leads to a fight between Hawkeye and Quicksilver until Cap breaks it up. An unrepentant Hawkeye departs. Meanwhile, Hank Pym and Wasp are at sea, where Namor has just attacked Pym’s floating lab. Wasp heads for shore to warn of Namor’s latest rampage, but she is captured by Attuma, who is plotting to conquer the surface world using his flood-generating tidal-expander machine and assumes she is a spy. Wasp escapes her cell and radios the Avengers to warn them of Attuma’s threat. The team assembles in response, except for Hawkeye, whose signal ring has been damaged during his partying. The other Avengers leave without him, and Attuma’s forces subdue them after a brief battle. Realizing the Avengers were handicapped by his ship’s super-humid air, Attuma revives them and equips them with air-breathing helmets so he can beat them fairly. He fights the trio single-handedly, gaining the upper hand when they accidentally flood the chamber with water. Back at Avengers Mansion, Hawkeye cannot remember how to work the Visi-Projector to locate his teammates, so he uses the subliminal recall-inducer to jog his memory while an unseen foe approaches.
This issue includes ads for the Avengers T-Shirt and other Marvel products, with Hawkeye as pitchman.
