“Captain America” reassures Sharon that “Red Skull” is beaten. Cap realizes he’ll never convince Sharon that the Skull has switched bodies with him. The Skull sends Sharon away, uses the Cube to transport Cap to a government lab and causes an explosion. Cap is blamed for the destruction. He escapes from the security guards by stealing a car, but the Skull alerts the police to Cap’s location. Cap evades two police roadblocks on his way to seek help from the Avengers, but they’ve been monitoring the situation from Avengers Mansion. With the Teen Brigade’s help Rick locates the Skull in Central Park, but the Skull callously sends Rick away. Stung by “Cap’s” rejection, Rick concludes he should never have tried to be Cap’s partner. Meanwhile at the Mansion, the Avengers easily defeat Cap, but are summoned by SHIELD and leave Cap behind. The Skull, controlling Sharon, has her enter the Mansion in order to assassinate Cap, but when she fails to pull the trigger Red Skull realizes that not even the Cube can overcome love. Undeterred, he transports Cap to the Isle of Exiles.
