  • Off the New York coast, the Sub-Mariner wrecks a bathy-sphere, warning the occupants not to invade his domain. At home, Peter can’t sleep due to his new neighbor’s late-night singing so he checks on Mr. Whitman as Spidey, breaking up a fi ght and getting drenched in brine. Whitman tells him the fighters were his crew, reluctant to help Dr. Kirchner with his ocean-based experiments after the Sub-Mariner’s attack. Spidey, however, refuses to help. In Atlantis, the Sub-Mariner claims Kirchner’s power generator will disturb the ocean’s currents and inspires his people to war. At ESU, Deb tells Peter her Uncle needs help. Pete visits Aunt May, inspiring him to return to the docks where Whitman’s crew refuses to ship out until they learn Spidey is joining the crew. At sea, the Sub-Mariner attacks. Spidey intervenes. During their battle, Subby reveals that, by altering the ocean’s currents, Kirchner’s generator is disrupting Atlantis’ generators but moving two degrees south will alleviate the problem. Whitman sets a new course and the Sub-Mariner departs.

Morrie Bench and S.S. Bulldog named in ASM #212, ’81.
