The Avengers are cleaning up their laboratory when they receive a message from Captain America asking them to search for the Cosmic Cube, to prevent the Red Skull from retrieving it. Meanwhile, Namor learns of an American submarine approaching Atlantis. The submarine crew is testing new missiles, which the Sub-Mariner sees as a threat, so he disables the submarine, before turning his attention to the nearby island naval base. At that same time, the Avengers are also approaching the base, locked in on the coordinates of the Cosmic Cube. The two sides soon do battle, but Hercules lets slip of the Cube’s presence nearby, which Namor turns to seek. Finding the Cube on the sea bottom, he distracts the Avengers by creating a monster, while he spars with Hercules again, this time gaining the upper hand. The Wasp realizes that the Cube is dangling around Namor’s neck and snaps it off, only for the Cube to fall into a trench. Namor retreats back to the waters and the Avengers conclude the Cube is lost. The Mole Man later discovers the Cube deep underground, but tosses it aside, concluding it to be a child’s toy.
