Rick Jones and the Avengers subdue Captain Marvel in Miami and take him to Cape Kennedy Hospital to be decontaminated. On the planet Hala, Ronan confronts the Supreme Intelligence and remotely activates a Kree Sentry stored at Cape Kennedy to kill Marvel and the Avengers.
With Rick Jones’ help, Captain Marvel escapes the Negative Zone through the Baxter Building portal, but Annihilus also emerges from the portal. Marvel’s intrusion triggers an alarm to which Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch and the Vision respond, and while the Avengers send Annihilus back to the Negative Zone, Marvel takes off in their quinjet; Rick and the Avengers resolve to find Marvel when they discover he’s contaminated with radiation (p). Captain Marvel observes Mr. Fantastic’s battle with Annihilus in the Negative Zone and realizes that a gateway to earth exists in the Baxter Building.
This issue marks the beginning of the Kree-Skrull War story arc that ends in issue #97.
