  • Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch and the Vision battle Sentry #459, who teleports away with the weakened Captain Marvel, mentioning that it has received new orders, and that its opponents will be destroyed by Plan Atavus. Rick returns with the Avengers to their mansion, giving them a potted history of the Sentry and Marvel en route; they arrive to find Goliath has left a message telling them he has gone to Alaska in response to the Wasp’s call for help. Finding the Wasp at Pym’s icebreaker ship, Goliath hears about Hank vanishing into the jungle, and goes to rescue him, ordering Jan to wait. Within minutes of Goliath entering the unnatural jungle, Ronan strikes him down and the Sentry saps his will. Rick and the other Avengers arrive, but as they and Wasp venture into the foliage Goliath and the Sentry attack them; Wasp is swiftly knocked out. Meanwhile, in the central structure, a Kree citadel, Ronan explains to the captive Marvel that the citadel’s Evo-Rays are devolving every creature in its path, including Yellowjacket, who is now a brutish caveman lumbering menacingly towards the Wasp.

Sentry #459 checks on the early Inhumans (Thor #146/2-147/2, ’67). The Sentry battles the Fantastic Four (FF #64, ’67). The Fantastic Four battle Ronan (FF #65, ’67). Marvel heads to Earth (MSH #12, ’67). Marvel battles Super-Skrull (CM #2, ’68). Marvel renounces his Kree heritage (see NOTE) and the dead Una drifts on an asteroid (CM #12, ’69). The Supreme Intelligence restores Marvel’s rank (CM #16, ’69). Rick Jones switches atoms with Marvel (CM #17, ’69). Yellowjacket and the Wasp discover a jungle in Alaska, growing around a mysterious structure; approaching it, they encounter a giant dragonfly, and both heroes begin to feel strange. Suspecting he knows why, Yellowjacket forces Jan to go back atop the dragonfly, while he goes into the jungle alone (p).

The story of Marvel’s renunciation of his Kree heritage is Rick Jones’ misrepresentation of the true event from CM #12, ’69. Tarzan, obliquely referenced here by Rick Jones, is revealed to exist on Earth-616 in MCP #155, ’94, when his foe Abdul Alhazred (1st seen in Tarzan #15, ’78) encounters Wolverine. This is the last issue of a long run with one of the story pages split into 2 half-pages.
