As the Avengers gather information about the Sentinels, Quicksilver speeds to the robots’ mountain base, only to find it deserted. He then abducts Larry Trask, the son of the Sentinels’ creator, in hopes that Trask can lead him to the robots and the kidnapped Scarlet Witch. Trask tells Quicksilver of a second Sentinel headquarters in Australia. When the Avengers learn from Nick Fury that a beam fired from Australia is causing dangerous solar flares, they rush to its source. There, they find the Sentinel base and fight the robots. En route with Quicksilver, the clairvoyant Trask foresees the Avengers slain and the Earth destroyed.
The Vision meets with the Grim Reaper (Av #102, ’72). Judge Chalmers releases the mutants captured by the Sentinels.
