The Scarlet Witch learns about scientists kidnapped in Chile, and thinking they may be linked to the missing Quicksilver, she, the Black Panther, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Thor, Vision and houseguest Sif investigate. They find an entrance into the Savage Land, where they encounter the Beast-Brood, Swamp Men who once were mutated by Magneto and whose mutations have mysteriously returned. The Avengers defeat most of the mutates, but when Lorelei bewitches the male heroes with her siren song, the unaffected Vision defeats her. The Vision tells the Scarlet Witch that Lorelei’s lack of control over him proves he is incapable of love. The Avengers rescue the scientists and return home, unable to find Quicksilver. Later, the Scarlet Witch enlists the Black Panther, Hawkeye and Iron Man to investigate another missing person case, but the Vision declines to help and instead ponders his status as an artificial being.
