Captain America finds the brooding Vision at Avengers Mansion. Rick Jones’ arrival at the Mansion triggers Cap’s memory of a forgotten battle with Hydra, which leads Cap to Drearcliff Cemetery. There, Cap remembers a secret East Side Hydra base, which the Black Panther, Hawkeye, Iron Man and the Scarlet Witch independently discover in their missing person investigation. Inside the base, the Avengers disappear one at a time, only to reappear and attack their teammates. Iron Man suspects the work of the Space Phantom, who appears and confesses that he lured the heroes in. The villain immobilizes the Avengers and introduces them to his partner, the Grim Reaper.
