Scarlet Witch returns to the Brand Corporation ruins to retrieve the Serpent Crown, but Living Laser beats her to it and vanishes. Scarlet Witch flees the scene after a security guard shoots her in the arm. Living Laser arrives unseen at Avengers Mansion, where he uses a laser to cause the visiting Whizzer to hallucinate that the Avengers are his old enemies. Whizzer attacks the heroes until Yellowjacket and Wasp subdue him. During the confusion, Wonder Man revives, trashes the Avengers’ lab and wanders off, moving more like a man than a zombie. Wearing the Serpent Crown, Living Laser entrances him and orders him to kill the Avengers.
