As Thor fights Count Nefaria, Yellowjacket releases Vision from his restorative tank in Avengers Mansion, and the android joins the Thunder God in battle. One of Nefaria’s scientists, Prof. Sturdy, arrives on the scene, gravely injured from Nefaria’s previous attempt to kill him. Hoping to con Nefaria into giving himself up to be “cured” of his new power, Sturdy tells the villain that his power boost is accelerating his aging and that he’ll soon be dead. The panicked and enraged Nefaria goes on a rampage, recklessly destroying property and endangering lives. The Avengers try to stop him, but the Vision administers the coup de grace when he plummets, diamond-hard, from the sky onto Nefaria. Before Sturdy dies, he tells Yellowjacket that Nefaria is actually immortal and provides instructions for returning the villain to normal.
After Count Nefaria’s scientists temporarily increase the Lethal Legion’s powers and use them as a template to imbue Nefaria with power, Nefaria attacks them and leaves them for dead so they cannot create another powerful being.
