His jungle senses revealing that Spider-Man still lives, Ka-Zar takes him to a rooftop and performs artificial respiration. Spidey recovers, his memory restored from the shock. Meanwhile, Professor Smythe calls Jameson at the Bugle with a full-proof plan to defeat Spider-Man. Elsewhere, John Jameson receives orders taking him overseas. He asks Captain Stacy to work to clear Spider-Man. At the hospital, a weakened May constantly asks for Peter. Spidey tells his story to Ka-Zar who promises to help but must defend Zabu from the police instead. At his lab, Spencer Smythe convinces Jameson to finance his bigger, more powerful Spider-Slayer. Out of web-fluid, Spidey finally gets home where his spider-sense tips him to an attack by the Jameson-controlled Slayer, walking right up the wall. However, the impatient Smythe wrests away the controls and fires a destructo-beam, intending to kill, rather than capture, Spider-Man. Luring the robot into a garage, Spider-Man maneuvers it into collapsing the roof and burying itsel, gaining him time to look up Smythe's address in the phone book. Realizing where Spidey is heading and thinking the web-slinger plans to tackle him there, Smythe gloats over being at the Bugle instead but his lab, full of spiders, short-circuits the Slayer, as Spidey intended. When Smythe gives it maximum power, it blows up. Jameson throws Smythe out of his office. At home, Peter worries when he can't contact Aunt May. He heads outside, running into Ka-Zar, with Zabu, who senses Spider-Man's aura but only sees a young man.
