  • The Avengers return to Avengers Mansion to rest, but Jan wonders where Wonder Man and Beast have gone. The two missing heroes soon return to the mansion; Hawkeye and Jan seek them out to tell them of the battle with Ultron, only to discover the duo asleep on the coach following their own adventure.

Scientists mix chemicals, spilling waste into the sewers. The Crawlers are born of these chemicals, and soon meet Hugo, who follows the creatures to their lair (p). Some time later, Wonder Man and Beast find themselves lost in town, ending up in a neighborhood being terrorized by “Crawlers.” After a scuffle with anti-Crawler vigilantes, the duo is asked by Juanita Lopez to track down her brother Hugo, whom the Crawlers abducted. Searching the sewers, Wonder Man and Beast find the Crawlers’ lair, but discover Hugo is staying there as the creatures’ friend. Having followed the two Avengers, the vigilantes discover the lair, and while they battle the Crawlers, Wonder Man and Beast escape with Hugo, returning him to his mother. Leaving for home, the two Avengers are again chased down by Juanita, who explains Hugo has fled again, to escape his abusive mother. The two head back to the Crawlers’ lair, but the vigilantes detonate a bomb, flooding the chambers and flushing the Crawlers and Hugo out to sea. Juanita returns to her mother, and Wonder Man and Beast head home saddened (p).
