  • Tigra fi nds celebrity comes with harassment from the general public, which causes frustration she eventually takes out on a subway bully. The confrontation dismays a disguised Silver Surfer, who takes to the air and lands in New Jersey. He happens upon Molecule Man’s wand, his touch inadvertently triggering the Molecule Man to reconstitute his destroyed body. Surfer recounts his origin, which inspires Molecule Man to devour the planet. Surfer is imprisoned, and his board seeks help from the Fantastic Four, hovering outside the empty Baxter Building as the Four are absent. The Avengers spot it and follow it to Surfer. Freeing him, they make a small break in Molecule Man’s solid air barrier, which Tigra squeezes through. While the others continue their efforts to widen the breach, Tigra fi nds Molecule Man and distracts him by pretending to be interested in becoming his friend. When the others arrive, Molecule Man captures them and disintegrates their weaponry, placing all but Tigra in a crusher and apparently pulverizing them.

Galactus transforms Norrin Radd into the Silver Surfer in return for sparing Radd’s planet. The Surfer later turns against Galactus and helps the Fantastic Four fi ght him, but is exiled to Earth for his betrayal (FF #48-50, ’66).

The credits are done in humorous form in the splash page blurb box. Ann Nocenti shares her name with a Marvel writer & editor.
