The Vulture is terrorizing New York City and Daily Bugle publisher J. J. Jonah Jameson demands photos for his Now Magazine. Learning that Vulture photos would be worth a fortune, Peter Fferker asks Aunt May for a camera. She gives him Uncle Ben's. Soon after, the Vulture publicly announces his intent to steal the Park Avenue Jewelry Exchange's diamond transfer. Spider-Man encounters him but is so busy snapping pictures he alerts the Vulture who circles behind, stunning him and dropping him in a water tower. Awakened by the cold water, Spider-Man discovers his web-shooters empty and must dive to the bottom and propel himself up to escape. Back home, Peter develops his photos and whips up an anti-magnetic inverter to counter what he suspects is the Vulture's magnetic-produced power. He sells the pictures to J. Jonah Jameson under the condition that he never asks how he managed them. With police guarding against an air attack, the Vulture emerges from a manhole to steal the jewelry, escaping through subway tunnels. However, Spider-Man arrives and uses his inverter, grounding the Vulture. Peter sells the photos to Jameson and pays Aunt May's rent for a year.
