While the media covers Hank Pym’s treason trial, Captain America trains Captain Marvel in combat. As Thor & Wasp return from court, Wasp nearly breaks down in grief over her ex-husband Pym’s fate, but calms herself and refuses to discuss it further. This aggravates She-Hulk, who feels the Avengers are too repressed for their own good. Unable to reach Iron Man for days, Captain America finds a sleep-deprived Tony Stark in his private lab, where the guilt-stricken Stark has spent nearly two days building a cerebral scanner to test whether Pym might have been under outside mental infl uence during his recent troubles. As Cap advises Tony to get some rest, TV viewers including Avengers reservists Vision and Scarlet Witch follow Pym’s case. Meanwhile, Egghead reassembles his Masters of Evil with new recruits Beetle, Radioactive Man and Shocker. Later, at day four of Pym’s trial, Egghead’s Masters abduct Pym while pretending they are Pym’s minions. The Avengers intervene, but Radioactive Man forces She-Hulk back into human form and the heroes only succeed in capturing the Shocker, whom the other Masters abandoned intentionally since Egghead has mentally programmed him to believe Pym is the Masters’ true employer. Now a wanted fugitive and with no apparent way of clearing his name, Pym seemingly agrees to work for Egghead’s Masters.
Cobalt Man blows himself up, seemingly taking Egghead with him (Def #43, ’77), but Egghead survives the blast by teleporting to New Jersey.
