Captain Marvel reaches and boards Sanctuary II, while, back on Earth, an incensed Gen. Peabody demands that Raymond Sikorski revoke the Avengers’ security clearance in response to Vision’s breach of NORAD security. The Vision contacts Sikorski at that moment to tender his resignation from the Avengers and to state his intent to turn himself in for a full debriefing. Vision is steadfast in facing the consequences of his actions despite his teammates’ pleas but acquiesces to Wanda’s wish to accompany him. As Vision steps down as chairman, Marvel contacts the mansion to report in and is shocked to learn that her mission was a ruse. However, she encounters a band of alien mercenaries who claim to have docked their ship with Sanctuary II to make repairs. The Wasp returns from her vacation just in time for Vision to inform her of recent events before he and Wanda surrender to two Federal agents. Back on Sanctuary II, the mercenaries shanghai Marvel, initiating a hyperspace jump that leaves her temporarily powerless and takes them all to another galaxy.
Freed from his computer interface, the Vision pulls Ultron’s control crystal from his brain (Av #254, ’85). Vision is linked to ISAAC to repair the damage he suffered from Annihilus’ Null fi eld (Av #238, ’83). Vision becomes Avengers chairman, and later develops a device to stimulate the human brain’s pleasure centers (Av #243, ’84).
