Apollo arrives at Avengers Mansion to give Hercules new garb to replace his destroyed vestments, while Wasp speaks with Starfox about her discomfort with his pleasure-enhancing powers. Two men staking out the mansion witness both Apollo’s departure and Captain America’s arrival. After accepting the team’s unanimous vote to resume team leadership, Wasp nominates the Black Knight for membership. On Sanctuary II, Captain Marvel attempts to regain control of her powers and resists the pirates’ attempts at swaying her to their side. When the Avengers Quinjet departs in response to a SHIELD summons, the two observers mobilize their allies. The Avengers fi nd a horrific trail of destruction leading from a beached cargo ship violently torn in half to a partially decimated research station in the Antarctic. While the team tends to the surviving scientists, Ka-Zar and another group of scientists exploring the Savage Land are confronted by the intergalactic ravager of worlds: Terminus.
A gigantic metal staff being transported by a cargo ship begins to glow, just before the entire ship is pulled at high speeds towards a whirlpool. Emerging from the whirlpool, a giant armored hand cleaves the ship in two (d).

Ward and Colby’s names are revealed next issue; though one refers to the other as “Sid” in this issue, the story is unclear as to which of them has this forename.
