Ka-Zar and a Navy rescue helicopter crew rescue the Avengers, and a saddened Ka-Zar tells them that Terminus’ rampage decimated the entire Savage Land. Arriving home, the Avengers fi nd technicians gutting their computer network and Jarvis interrogated by Federal agents. Raymond Sikorski explains that Vision’s actions caused the Avengers’ security clearance to be suspended. Captain America furiously protests, since the suspension prevented the team from gaining pre-encounter intel on Terminus. The Avengers leave a shaken Sikorski to respond to an emergency call reporting Firelord rampaging, but arrive to fi nd Firelord has been pummeled unconscious by Spider-Man, who eagerly hands off custody of the former herald. Firelord awakens at Avengers Mansion, furiously demanding Spider-Man, but Hercules calms him with a vicious punch. Sikorski agrees to work out a new arrangement between the Avengers and the government. Back on Sanctuary II, Nebula sends Captain Marvel to scout a planetoid guarded by a Skrull armada, but sends an anti-matter missile after her, intending Marvel’s death as well as the Skrulls’. Marvel uses the Skrulls’ communications systems to send the Avengers a message, just before Nebula’s missile destroys the planetoid and the armada.
Spider-Man battled Firelord in ASM #269-270, ’85. This issue is Spider-Man’s only original series appearance in his black costume.
