  • Having gathered a small army of super-villains to be the new Masters of Evil, Helmut Zemo, son of the Avengers’ old foe, spies on the Avengers’ activities, ferreting out possible weaknesses and planning the right moment to strike. Concerned with defeating Captain Marvel, Zemo has Moonstone work with the mentally unstable Blackout to improve his power over the Darkforce. Threatened by Moonstone’s lack of deference to his authority, Zemo wrests control over Blackout from her with help from the Fixer. While the Avengers are away, the Masters of Evil raid Avengers Mansion and capture its sole occupant, Jarvis.

Zemo calls Whirlwind’s mission to detain Cap “Operation Flag”; it is shown in Cap #324, ’86. Zemo calls the mission to storm Avengers Mansion “Operation Drop-Off.” Jarvis is reading P.G. Wodehouse’s comic novel, “Leave It to Psmith.”
