Thor and Captain America fight and defeat Goliath and the revived Wrecker, and Yellowjacket surrenders. After Dr. Druid frees Blackout from Baron Zemo’s mental control, Blackout resists Zemo and apparently dies from a brain hemorrhage. Cap insists on facing Zemo, the last villain standing, alone. Despite being armed with Cap’s stolen shield, Zemo fails to best the hero he blames for his family’s troubles and falls from the rooftop of Avengers Mansion. The Masters of Evil are arrested and Black Knight and Jarvis are taken to a hospital. Cap grieves the destruction of his personal belongings, and he and Captain Marvel resolve to rebuild the trashed mansion.
Baron Zemo regains control of Blackout (Av #276, ’87). Moonstone tells Captain Marvel that Zemo is in charge of Blackout (Av #276, ’87). Captain America watches as Mr. Hyde beats Jarvis (Av #275, ’87).
The two flashbacks in this issue are presented as if they contain new content, but they repeat panels 1-4 & 6 of page 21 and panels 1-2 of panel 22 of last issue. This issue includes a page of 4 correctly colored panels from Av #271, ’86, which were originally miscolored. The aftermath of this issue’s battle is shown in Mv:Eye #5, ’09. As revealed in Tb #17-18, ’06, Blackout does not die in this issue; instead, his mind retreats into the Darkforce Dimension.
