The Kingpin allows Spider-Man to follow him so that he can destroy him. Back at his offi ces, he roughs up and fi res a man for mentioning his wife, then puts the tablet in his vault. At police headquarters, Joe Robertson supports Randy, Josh, and the other arrested students. Outside, protesters gather. Gwen tries to disperse them, slapping a student who calls Peter gutless, all the while wondering if it’s true. At the Kingpin’s headquarters, Spider-Man suspects a trap, sending in a web-dummy in his costume’s shirt to draw gunfi re. Spidey subsequently attacks but the Kingpin succeeds in tangling him in his own web-dummy. A Kingpin blow accidentally frees him and, putting his shirt back on, Spidey continues battling, webbing the end of the Kingpin’s cane blaster, causing a backfi re that knocks out the crime boss. Police arrive to arrest the Kingpin, who pretends Spider-Man is his ally as Spidey follows Wilson to the vault. When Spider-Man tries to give the retrieved tablet to the police, they shoot at him. Spurned, the web-spinner vows to be the menace they think he is.
