After responding to a domestic disturbance in Atlanta, Captain Marvel visits her parents in New Orleans and asks their advice about becoming Avengers chairman. She drops in on the hospitalized Moonstone and Hercules and visits the abandoned oil rig where she received her powers. She then joins Captain America in rescuing a tour group from a cave-in at an Appalachian cavern. The experience gives her the confi dence to accept Captain America’s leadership nomination. Days later, a mysterious figure abducts the comatose Hercules from his hospital room.
The Avengers accept Dr. Druid into their ranks, but when Captain America unexpectedly nominates Captain Marvel as the team’s new chairman, she isn’t sure she’s ready to accept the responsibility (p). Monica Rambeau accidently receives super-powers when she thwarts a scientist’s attempt to develop a weapon (ASM Ann #16, ’82). Captain Marvel and her fellow Avengers board a Kralian Skrull ship (Av Ann #14, ’85).
Dr. Druid joins the Avengers. The children sing “U.S. Field Artillery,” the 1917 adaption of the “Caisson Song.”
