  • With the Ebony Blade’s curse triggered by Marrina’s slaying, the Black Knight finds himself wracked by pain unless he holds it unsheathed. After hours searching for Captain Marvel, the Avengers return to Hydrobase, where Dr. Druid has another vision of Kang Nebula, disguised as the mysterious beautiful woman, beguiling him with dreams of performing heroic deeds with god-like powers. Meanwhile, the Black Knight’s limbs grow increasingly stiff, forcing him to don an exo-skeleton to remain mobile. His teammates’ concern is interrupted by Captain Marvel’s return, her body withered after inadvertently scattering her energy across the Atlantic when she struck the Leviathan as lightning. At the Kang Krossroads, Kang spies on Kang Nebula, adopting a human disguise, and traveling to Earth. Learning that their newest Kang recruit is cloaking his activities, Chairman Kang goes to confront him. Back on Earth, the other Avengers and Captain Marvel’s parents visit her in hospital. Marvel steps down as Avengers chair, and the other Avengers debate who should replace her. Infl uenced from afar by Nebula, Dr. Druid psychically manipulates the others into voting for him, though Thor proves both resistant and suspicious.

While thinking to herself, Kang Nebula curses Starfox, as she was originally intended to be the space pirate Nebula (last seen in Av #260, ’85).
