Sersi detects that Olympia has disappeared into the Negative Zone, so Thor opens an inter-dimensional portal with his hammer and transports the Avengers there. The heroes find the Eternals’ city damaged, deserted, and marked with an aura of death and despair, though Sersi detects her brethren’s presence all about. After they split up to search the city, Captain America, Sub-Mariner, She-Hulk and Sersi are ambushed in turn by Blastaar, who then confronts Thor.
The lava-beast pummels Gilgamesh (Av #307, ’89).
Although most of this story occurs between WCA #46 and AWC #47, both ’89, the Great Lakes Avengers scene on pages 9-11 is a flash-forward that occurs after AWC #49, ’89, as per Hawkeye’s comment about the team’s recent battle in Texas.
