When a starship crash-lands on the moon, Karnak, Timberius, an Alpha Primitive and the visiting Quicksilver investigate, but are trapped in a force field. After the Inhumans fail to penetrate the barrier, Lockjaw and Crystal fetch the Avengers. Inside the field, a warrior race called the Brethren, led by the savage Thane Ector, demands to know their location. Even under torture Quicksilver refuses to talk, but Timberius quickly breaks and reveals they are near Earth. When Ector tries to kill Quicksilver, the Alpha Primitive leaps to Quicksilver’s defense, dying in his stead. The Avengers and Inhumans destroy the force field and battle the Brethren, who escape by teleporting to Earth. Joined by the Watcher, the heroes inspect the ship and find its comatose owner, the Collector, from whose captivity the Brethren escaped.
