A desperate woman seeking help from Captain America interrupts a hospital dedication attended by the Avengers when a car strikes her. Cap and Wasp deduce that the woman was trying to alert the heroes about her husband, Itzhak Berditchev, a reclusive weapons manufacturer who is building a nuclear bomb with stolen plutonium. With the help of Jarvis, who impersonates a gunrunner, Cap and Wasp infiltrate Berditchev’s estate and encounter the arms maker’s quintuplet boys, pre-teens who behave as their father’s dutiful soldiers. Cap learns that the recluse has been trying to emulate him ever since Cap liberated the young Itzhak from a Nazi concentration camp decades ago. Cap discovers that Berditchev’s childhood trauma made him a paranoid madman intent on protecting his family at all costs. Cap defeats the industrialist’s hired thug, Bulwark, while Wasp and Jarvis show one of the Berditchev boys how misguided his father is. The arms maker is arrested, and Wasp wonders about the fate of his sons.
