The Avengers welcome their new recruits Crystal and a rather overwhelmed Thor, as well as Crystal’s daughter Luna and Luna’s haughty nanny Marilla, who are both moving into the team’s headquarters with Crystal. A security alert sounds and the new members find their teammates battling robots, which Crystal and Thor wreck by combining their elemental powers. The senior Avengers then reveal this was a combat exercise, and that Crystal scored somewhat better than the more inexperienced Thor. Later that night, Captain America works late and confides in Black Widow about his worries regarding the team’s stability, such as losing members like Rage and Sandman so soon after recruiting them. The next day, Crystal calls up her estranged husband Quicksilver to arrange a visit with him as part of their efforts to reconcile, a request he grants reluctantly. After the call ends, Crystal discusses her troubled marriage with Vision, but they are interrupted by an apparent distress call from the Fantastic Four. When the Avengers fly to Four Freedoms Plaza to assist, two attackers ambush them: a mysterious warrior woman, and a man who claims to be their slain teammate Swordsman back from the dead.
