The Nega-Bomb explodes, killing billions of Kree. While Quasar finds the Avengers dead in space, Deathbird locates Captain America. Quasar meets with Captain Marvel’s crew and Starfox revives the Avengers. As the Shi’ar declare victory, the Supreme Intelligence tells Cap and Deathbird that he planned everything, orchestrating events to end the Kree’s genetic stagnation. The Avengers regroup in Kree-Lar’s remains, where Captain Atlas attacks them for murdering his race. The battle ends when Captain Atlas learns the Intelligence is responsible and Dr. Minerva confirms it; she and Atlas were supposed to be mates in repopulating the Kree. Disgusted, Captain Atlas kills himself and Minerva. The Avengers become split, with some wanting to slay the Intelligence for his crimes. Cap tries to stop them, but Iron Man pulls seniority and leads an execution squad. The Intelligence defends himself with constructs of past Avengers foes and Thor has second thoughts, but Black Knight deals the killing blow. Lilandra arrives, places Deathbird in charge of the Kree and promises the stargate near Earth will no longer be used. Later, the Supreme Intelligence’s minions retrieve a data capsule containing his consciousness.
SS #79, ’93 reveals Atlas and Minerva faked their deaths. AvFo #8, ’99 reveals Immortus is influencing Iron Man here to prevent the Avengers becoming a powerful force in intergalactic relations. Quasar leaves the Avengers in Cap #401, ’92 and Cap in Cap #402, ’92.
