The Human Torch surrounds the Lizard with flame as Spider-Man tries to get him to back off. The Torch refuses, stating that the Lizard has thrown the city into a panic. The Lizard tosses some masonry at the Torch as Spidey webs up his fi ery friend. However, the Lizard dropkicks Spidey and escapes. The Torch increases his flame, melting Spidey’s webbing, and then forces the Lizard off a ledge. Spidey saves the Lizard with his webbing. In their hotel room, the Connors become fearful when learning the Torch has entered the fi ght. Billy leaves their room to try and find his father. The three-way slugfest continues across the rooftops to the docks, where the Torch drives the Lizard into the water then boils the area around him. Spidey dives in after the Lizard, who, playing possum, grabs him. Undaunted, Spidey cuts off the Lizard’s air supply, knocking him out and pulling him to a ship’s deck, then deceives the Torch, telling him his “spider-sonic hearing” picked up a Fantastic Four distress call. Believing in this imaginary spider-power, the Torch quickly abandons the fight. Billy arrives and follows as Spidey takes the Lizard to a nearby warehouse. While Spidey searches for the dehydrating agent calcium dichloride (CaCl2), the Lizard breaks free and grabs Billy. However, Spidey douses him with the CaCl2, which reverts him back to Curt Connors. Spidey returns father and son to their hotel room, then leaves, worried only about how to deal with the Torch when he realizes Spidey has scammed him.
