Arex, Ikaris and Sprite come to Avengers HQ, aggressively seeking their fellow Eternal, Sersi. A brief scuffle breaks out and Sprite pleads for peace until Sersi finally appears. Sersi reveals she has chosen Black Knight as her intended Gann Josin, an intimate Eternal mental bond formed between lifelong soulmates. Spying on the Avengers for the Gatherers, Vision-932 takes a romantic interest in Crystal. The real Vision tries to escape the Gatherers, but Proctor subdues him. The Eternals explain that they fear Sersi has fallen victim to the Mahd W’yry, a madness said to afflict Eternals who have lived too long. The Eternals believe their collective Uni-Mind prevented the W’yry, but there are now too few of them to form an Eternal Uni-Mind, and they fear Sersi’s recent role in the Brethren Uni-Mind may have damaged her mind. Horrified to learn that Eternal tradition calls for disintegration of those afflicted by the W’yry, the Avengers resist when Arex and Ikaris try to seize Sersi. Sprite stops the fight, noting Sersi is probably too powerful to subdue anyway, but he also says he can tell Sersi fears she may have the W’yry. Sprite suggests forming a Gann Josin bond between Sersi and Black Knight now, so the Knight can better monitor and influence Sersi’s state of mind. Sersi agrees, and Ikaris forms the link. Feeling furious and violated, the newly red-eyed Knight storms out. Crystal follows him, and they admit what they have been trying to deny for months, that they have fallen in love with each other despite their relationships with other people. They kiss in the garden, unaware that both Vision-932 and Sersi are separately, and jealously, observing.
