Fabian Cortez cradles the kidnapped Luna as he looks out at Hammer Bay’s war-torn skyline. In DC, Henry Gyrich confers with Nick Fury and Valerie Cooper before leaving for Genosha to escort a peace delegation. Fury summons both Avengers teams to Avengers Mansion, to relay UN orders not to intervene in Genosha and assign USAgent as additional security for Gyrich’s delegation. Crystal remembers Xavier’s briefing on the Acolytes and runs to check on Luna. “Luna” reveals herself as a shape-shifting Genoshan mutate and blows herself up. At Xavier’s School, Gyrich and USAgent meet the delegation: Beast, Philip Moreau, Jennifer Ransome and Charles Xavier. Beast is stunned when Gyrich tells him the footage of the Genoshan violence was smuggled stateside by his girlfriend, Trish Tilby. Xavier psionically orders the X-Men to meet the delegation in Genosha. Surviving the bombing thanks to Crystal’s air powers, the Avengers head for the Quinjets despite their orders, but find the hangar guarded by armed SHIELD agents ordering them to stand down. En route to Genosha, Xavier’s delegation watches a broadcast of Cortez with Luna, declaring himself the new head of state and swearing to execute Genosha’s human population.
