The wounded Sersi crashes through Kro’s office ceiling at the Pentagon, seeking his help in rescuing the Avengers due to his work integrating Deviant outcasts into human civilization. Kro assembles a rescue team of Deviants who seek better lives for their people, which he dubs “Delta Force” after the Delta Network computer he uses in his work. Delta Force and Sersi travel to Lemuria and learn that Black Knight and Giant-Man have been conscripted as gladiators, while the other Avengers are imprisoned in the priest-lords’ temple. Kro sends Ransak, Toro Karkas, and Enigmo to the arena, and he and the others race to the temple. Cap warns Sersi to leave, but she is re-fitted with a brain-mine by Ghaur. A horrified Kro discovers that Ghaur lured all of them to Lemuria to form a Uni-Mind that Ghaur will use to conquer the world.
Responding to a priority alert from Lemuria, the Avengers are ambushed upon arrival by Deviant warriors led by the priest Karygmax and fitted with will-sapping brain-mines. The Young God Varua, also enthralled, collects blood from each Avenger, but Sersi regains her will before her turn comes. Karygmax shoots Sersi with a dispersatron that disintegrates her right arm, causing her to fall into the ocean portal through which the Avengers arrived (p).
Black Widow and Vision bow out of the mission to oversee the shutdown of the West Coast Avengers’ operations. Sersi regenerates her arm while consulting with Kro. The aircraft type Kro uses is specified next issue. Dane’s eyes are depicted in their pre-Gann Josin color in one panel. Toro is alternatively referred to in English and translated Quechuan and Spanish as “Red Bull” in this issue and the next. Kro mentions Erishkigal is MIA, referring to her demise in Q #50, ’93.
