Posing as a psychic, Proctor leads NYPD detectives Clancy and DuBois to their missing fellow detectives Delgado and MacNamara, who were turned to stone and dumped in the East River. Proctor also gives the police clues designed to lead them to Sersi. Meanwhile, Vision departs Avengers HQ on a routine mission to inspect one of the Avengers’ European tracking stations, taking along new associates Deathcry, Magdalene and Swordsman so they can learn more about Avengers operations. Quicksilver continues to stay at Avengers HQ while recovering from his battle with Exodus, and Captain America encourages him to stay on with the Avengers permanently, causing an awkward moment among the teammates due to the romance between Black Knight and Quicksilver’s estranged wife Crystal. Quicksilver and Crystal talk privately, and she admits she still loves him, but says she also loves the Black Knight. Sersi, struggling to stay sane, uses her Gann Josin mind link with the Black Knight to compel him to come to her and calm her. Back at HQ, Giant-Man warns the others that the mind link is gradually converting the Knight’s mind into an extension of Sersi’s. The Knight tries to resist Sersi, but they kiss, an embrace interrupted when they are attacked by most of Proctor’s newly recruited Gatherers. Proctor had not authorized this assault, though, so he teleports his Gatherers away, warning them not to act without his approval again. When Sersi and Black Knight report back to HQ, they find officers DuBois and Clancy there to arrest Sersi for murder.
