Quicksilver and Crystal awaken in HE’s citadel. HE explains that their arrival’s timing was suspect due to an attack and message left by the Acolytes demanding HE abandon the mountain, which they hold sacred. Quicksilver angrily explains their presence on behalf of Bova, which prompts HE to return to her cottage with them, as he cares for Bova being his first great success. Meanwhile, Hercules calls Taylor again. Augustine answers at Taylor’s request, but instead of relaying Taylor’s dismissal tells Herc she wants to meet for dinner. Elsewhere, HE examines Bova and discovers she’s been poisoned; a hologram of Exodus appears, admitting he arranged this, a plot to draw two of his enemies together to a place where they were vulnerable. Fydor, having been possessed by Rakkus, transforms and the cottage explodes.
Cover says “And the Heavens Opened…” Story was also printed as a Marvel Double Feature in a flipbook format with a Giant-Man story. The restaurant Augustine mentions, Le Circe, is the name of a nymph in Greek mythology. The letters page explains the short story was to allow Avengers to return to a regular release schedule.
