Widow receives information from Ivan of an energy pulse in Canada that he believes ties in with an organization she is investigating. After she departs, Ivan is attacked and captured by an unidentified foe. Meanwhile, Crystal, Quicksilver and Deathcry are examining the transtemporal door in the mansion’s basement, but it emits a flame blast that stuns but does not burn Deathcry; they’re called away by Widow before they can investigate further, thus missing hearing something begin tapping at the other side. As the Avengers head into Canada, Nick Fury is alerted, and fears the team’s interfering where they don’t belong might blow years of work. En route, Crystal tries to console Hercules over the loss of Taylor and his godhood. As they reach their destination, they spot a giant crater seconds before electromagnetism disables the Quinjet, bringing them down in a crash landing. Unhurt, the Avengers descend into the crater, finding a complex deep within; they explore, but are suddenly attacked by the Red Skull, who has an unconscious Ivan at his feet.
