  • Skull seeks something that was stolen from him, and threatens to kill Ivan if the Avengers don’t reveal its location. Widow uses her sting to collapse the ceiling over Skull, but when Quicksilver investigates, he discovers Skull has vanished. While Crystal starts tending to the injured Ivan, Hercules begins climbing the crater intending to retrieve the Quinjet’s medical kit. Meanwhile, on Boca Caliente, an AIM agent descends into another abandoned complex, seeking a specimen. Back at the Canadian complex, Skull tricks Hercules with a hologram of Captain America and electrocutes the demigod, then teleports into the complex and overpowers Crystal and Quicksilver. While Skull battles the Widow, the AIM agent attempts to drain energy from the siphon point, but the power flux overwhelms the containment units, leading to an explosion that’s seen in a nearby village. One villager alerts Skull’s headquarters via communicator that the thieves are on Boca Caliente. In Canada, Widow short circuits Skull’s weapons system, but Skull teleports away after receiving the alert from his agents. Hours later, the Avengers arrive back at the mansion, where an armored Cap greets them with the announcement that he is embarking on his final mission.

Red Skull is seeking the Cosmic Cube, as revealed in Cap #440, ’95. The cover is labeled “Taking A.I.M. Prelude.” This story continues in Cap #440, ’95. Kempler scanners measure the energy emitted by the Cube, as revealed in Av #387, ’95.
