  • The Avengers relax at Tony Stark’s Adirondack summer home until Lockjaw chases a rabbit into the woods. Hercules follows and is surprised to find Lockjaw with a boy holding tarot cards. In Manhattan, Hank and Jan meet with Jan’s lawyer Liam O’ Lynch, who tells her she’s suddenly bankrupt. Jan laughs the news off. A dazed Hercules brings the mysterious boy to the Avengers. The boy introduces himself as Tuc and reads their fortunes, informing Crystal and Quicksilver that they’re soul mates, warning Deathcry of learning her origins, advising Hercules to remember the Avengers’ past and telling Marilla that Luna loves her. Marilla understands the unspoken message that she will die soon. Tuc vanishes but later visits Luna in private, calling her “big sister.”

Cover-labeled “Before… the Crossing.” Story continued in Av:C, ’95. AvUnp #2, ’95 states that Tuc is the unborn future son of Crystal, but AvFo #8, ’99 reveals many characters in the Crossing are actually Space Phantoms sent by Immortus to confuse the Avengers, Tuc being one of them. Tuc is inspired by and resembles the character Tuk, Caveboy from CapC #1, ’41. Av #391, ’95 reveals Tony Stark is responsible for Janet’s bankruptcy. Swordsman & Magdalene move out of the Mansion and into Stark’s Adirondacks house as of this story.
