Jarvis is cleaning the grounds outside Avengers Mansion when a shaken man materializes in front of him; identifying himself as Tyfon, a time traveler from the future, the man tells Jarvis that today is the day the Avengers die, and only Jarvis can save them. While they race into Avengers Mansion, throughout town the Avengers are called to battle many of their past foes, who appear randomly and dissolve into “dark matter” upon defeat. Back at the mansion, Tyfon uses his to scanner to look through Jarvis’ memories, pleading with Jarvis to think about which villain could be behind the threat to the Avengers. As more villains appear to fight the Avengers, they become overwhelmed while the shadow matter begins to consume buildings and entire neighborhoods. When Tyfon tells Jarvis not to bother thinking about the Avengers earliest foe, the butler deduces that the visitor is Loki in disguise. Loki reverts to his true form, explaining he was using Jarvis’ memories to fuel a spell that will consume Earth. Jarvis uses his emergency ID card to summon the Avengers back to the mansion, but Loki animates the Adamantium statues of the Avengers founders to fight them. Scarlet Witch melts the statues, and combining their powers the Avengers blast the flowing metal onto Loki, encasing him in an Adamantium shell and canceling the shadow matter spell. Their victory celebration is cut short when X-Man appears at the door warning them Professor X has gone insane.
