  • The East Coast, West Coast and Great Lakes Avengers race to St. Louis to stop Terminus from draining America’s life energy. The Great Lakes team arrives first, but prove wholly ineffective against Terminus. Mockingbird is crestfallen, then angered when Hawkeye, arriving with the West Coast team, congratulates them on successfully delaying Terminus. Mockingbird’s ire at her team’s use as a mere delaying tactic becomes shame when the West Coast team chastizes her for putting her team’s standing before the larger crisis. The East Coast team then arrives and several flight-capable Avengers from both teams attack Terminus. In space, bereft of Mjolnir since Terminus absorbed it, Thor’s aimless drift through space ends when he lands on a planetoid. On Earth, the Avengers split their efforts between attacking Terminus and protecting St. Louis’ citizens from collateral damage. As Thor begins reciting a rune-spell intended to bring Mjolnir to him, Terminus ignores the Avengers’ attacks and continues absorbing energy, growing ever larger. Terminus is suddenly lifted out of Earth’s atmosphere, carrying the attacking Avengers with him. The Avengers and Terminus arrive at the planetoid, which shatters upon impact with Terminus’ body. Breathing via air sacs created by Quasar, the Avengers pry Terminus’ lance away and Quasar hurls it light-years away. Without his lance, Terminus feeds upon himself, imploding into a black hole. Mjolnir emerges, and Thor uses it to transport himself and his rescuers home.

Conclusion of the 5-part “Terminus Factor” crossover event, continuing from AWC Ann #5. Terminus absorbed Mjolnir and expelled Thor into space in Thor Ann #15, ’90, the third part of the crossover.
