Mr. Fantastic has the heroes feign surrender in order to get closer to Kang, while Sersi covertly switches places with Raa. Kang gloats over his captives until he’s attacked by Nebula, who is revealed to be Ravonna. Intrigued by this change in her personality, Kang offers a duel: if she wins, he dies, but if he wins, she joins his Anachronauts. Ravonna, now calling herself Terminatrix, accepts. While everyone is distracted, Sersi frees the heroes and they fight and beat the Anachronauts. Thor uses his hammer to penetrate the force field around Kang and Terminatrix. Kang pushes her out of the way and takes the hit, which seemingly kills him. Terminatrix takes the body and disappears, while the Avengers head for home. Elsewhere, Terminatrix has placed Kang in a cryo capsule, vowing to restore him so she may kill him again, and to continue his campaigns of conquest.
Kang attempts to conquer Ravonna’s time (Av #23, ’65). Ravonna takes a shot meant for Kang (Av #24, ’66). Grandmaster offers Kang Ravonna’s life or the Avengers’ death; Kang chooses the latter (Av #69-71, ’69). Grandmaster takes Ravonna and replaces her with a doppelganger (1). Grandmaster restores her and tells her of Kang’s betrayal, leading her to desire his death (2).
