While TV show “It’s Amazing” profiles the Avengers, Justice frets over his recent injury and low public popularity, Wonder Man and Scarlet Witch discover robots have abducted Grim Reaper from a mental hospital, and Triune Understanding leader Jonathan Tremont assures angry Triune champion Triathlon that they will deal with the Avengers’ recent public criticism of the Triunes. When Flaming Sword and Firebrand kidnap corporate executive Charles Standish, the Avengers and Wonder Man come to his rescue while cameras film the mission for “It’s Amazing.” The Flaming Sword is defeated, Firebrand is cast into another dimension and Standish is rescued, but the Avengers are stunned when strangely hostile reporters accuse them of anti-Triune bigotry, incompetence, anti-environmental views and supporting a so-called “mutant conspiracy” by allowing mutants in their ranks. Refusing to answer these baseless accusations the Avengers depart, remotely observed by Ultron, who is likewise being covertly watched by Alkhema.
The Avengers battle Onslaught (Ons:MU #1, ’96), Squadron Supreme (Av #5, ’98), Grim Reaper (Av #11, ’98) and Pagan (Av #14 &15, ’99). Wonder Man and Scarlet Witch try to avoid reporters (1). Iron Man criticizes Triune Understanding for not cooperating with the search for Lord Templar (2).
